To My Friends Out There
That is to say they are an integral part of life and it would be quite impossible to live a happy life without a friend or two.
Some can't even live past a day without their friends :P
Which is to say that your friends will definitely have an impact on you.
The way you talk, the way you dress, the way you do things and the way you think.
Understanding this is very important because it will determine whether the rest of my post will be beneficial to you.
If friends can impact the way you think, they definitely can affect the way you do things.
They can affect your morals, your social acceptance and your self-confidence.
Ultimately they affect the way you see yourself.
If you lived a life with friends who love to play basketball,(:P)
naturally you'll be inclined to play basketball as well.
The reverse is true, if you always go out with a bunch of friends who don't like to do certain things(eg. pray), sooner or later you'll find yourself losing the need to pray.
Someone once said, "Your actions affect not just you, but the people around you as as well."
It is highly possible that your circle of friends will be affected by what you do or say.
But here's the twist: When someone acts, you can determine how you want to react.
Here i want to share an excerpt from a book I'm still reading called "Becoming Who You Are In God" by David Eckman.
"Whenever a choice is made for the flesh, an abandonment of peace, joy and love occurs."
Isn't it true?
Would you let love in or be comsumed by anger?
When someone comes and offend you, the clouds suddenly become greyscale(Yes God owns photoshop) and a storm is imminent, what would you do?
Do you retaliate?
Or would you choose to forgive that person instead and move on.
See, sometimes friends will unavoidably hurt you, but you must realise, what is more important.
Your pride?
Your anguish?
Your bitterness?
Or can you see how much more fruitful your friendship can be with that person if you can look beyond the hurt, look beyond how the person has treated you and take control of your emotions, and avoid the conflict.
Or will you let your emotions take control of you, and when you look back through the shades of remorse and regret, you ask yourself, "What I've Done?"
What I'm saying is that you should not let your emotions overrun your control over the situation you are in.
What I'm not saying is that you should give in to your friend all the time because they hurt you.
Relationships are based on the principle of giving and taking; - or sowing and reaping.
I've always believed in this.
In order for someone to first be your friend, what is needed is to first get the person out from the shell of just being an acquaintance.
Your job doesn't just end there.
You need to nurture him or her, feed your 'friend' with food about yourself.
It will take time, but slowly, you're providing the time and energy for the person to make the decision to consider this friendship.
And ultimately, bursting out of the cocoon is a new found friend!
I'd like to go on more about relationships but i wanna close in on just friends today.
So if friends can do so much, then indeed choosing the right friends are important throughout the course of our lives.
Especially if they are to be close friends.
Proverbs 12:26
"The righteous should choose his friends carefully,
For the way of the wicked leads them astray."
Open your hearts, my friends.
If a book with 'inconceivable ideas' can provide such practical advice, I believe there must a reason and purpose to it.
I'm just as shocked and grieved to type this as I've heard this message.
I can't be close friends with: unbelievers.
The rest were reasonably logical:
1)Lazy
But the one about unbelievers totally sort of blew my mind away.
But still, my reasoning and logic came in fast to tell me that if I couldn't relate God to someone whom I considered a 'best' friend, then there'd still a renouncing gap between the both of us.
Now this is rather a concern to me because i have quite a few close friends who are unbelievers.
That is the reason why i rejoiced when Yi Bin got saved(:
Maybe this why i felt it was easier to connect to people who believed in God and encourage them than those who didn't.
Maybe this was why i always liked to help out with Daph and KW.
Maybe this was why i found it hard to talk to people who weren't of God about my problems.
Maybe this was also why i found it hard to talk to people who weren't strong in their walk with God about my problems.
Close friends, i just wonder.
You've got a friend in me
When the road looks rough ahead
And you're miles and miles
From your nice warm bed
Just remember what your old pal said
Boy, you've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got troubles, well I've got 'em too
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you
We stick together and we see it through
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
A little bit smarter than I am
Bigger and stronger too
Maybe
But none of them will ever love you the way I do
It's me and you
And as the years go by
Boys, our friendship will never die
You're gonna see
It's our destiny
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me
You've got a friend in me

Going places, Seeing Faces
Taking full use of the off day from exam haha.
Reached bugis at 10.40, 10 min later than the scheduled time.
Turns out Khee Ern will show up late so i decided to check out the bags first.
Buying on impulse, badump badump.
Not many shops opened, so i went city trekking!
Haha its so fun walking around Singapore.
Discovering your island home without public transport is way interesting.
Walked in a BIG circle around bugis, passing by Little India, the Concourse, Suntec City and Shaw Towers.
Will upload pictures once i've got my lappie.
Made a pit stop at national library(toilet).
I had to venture up 7 floors to find the water cooler.
Then bought the present and headed to J8 for my free lunch.
Ok it wasn't free, it cost me $2.10 for a drink and a sub.
Headed over to pl to preserve KE's balls where shortly after the cab driver was almost cheated into giving us a free ride to serangoon gardens.
16 layers again?
Who's willing to help?

Do with it as you will
I surrender
Take my fears and inhibitions
All my burdens, my ambitions
You can use it all
to feed them all"

iBlog
Just took a steal at the brand new batch of iPods.
Definitely Apple has been continually revamping their music players.
The Genius feature is irrefutably brilliant.
Makes my hands itch to get one.
Then again, it reminds me of how my current pod has managed to survive for 2 years.
Its got me thinking how much power the consumer has nowadays.
Consciously or sub-consciously, they know that spending is the way to go.
Perhaps this is why we created a culture whereby there is always an incessant need to spend, spend, spend.
Or it could reflect how quick the mind is when it comes to improvements.
The people at Apple have definitely taken a short amount of time to redevelop their products.
In any case, i would love a new iPod.
Ok maybe except a shuffle.
Rants
And NEOPETS UGH.
Super strict.
Waiting for my account to get defrozen.
Hmm, maybe its time to go for a hiatus?

Calamine Lotion
Calamine, Calamine.
........................................................
And i forget how the song goes.
Random.
The song, for some reason is stuck in my head.
Oh and studying overnight at airport is shiokingly tiring.
This morning, Jon and me were spamming Coffee Mate and sugar.
Like the whole tray got 10 over packets just for our 1 cup of coffee and tea.
Then we went to send Colby off in morning.
Won't be seeing him for a month :/
Have a great time in Texas! haha
Soak up some sun. Haha

Role Models
They provide people around them with the epitome of how their lives can be changed and lifestyles, edified.
People emulate their role models.
In our spirit, we have the epitome of Christ.
In our family?
Among our friends?
Within our campus?
Around our social circles?
In church, ministry or cell group?
Who are you modeling after?
This takes me to my next point, if we want to be so much like Christ, isn't it appropriate that we model after Him in every aspect of our lives?
If you can be a model and people can see Jesus in you, you would have effectively won souls to Christ.
Make friends with those that are better than you.
Who you spend time with is who you become.
Who will you decide to become?
Holidays?
Its 6 weeks to O's.
Oh man.
Thanks to all the peeps who've been encouraging me so far, love you guys!
So far this hols has been rather slack.
Since saturday, its been "going places, seeing faces."
And of course the rain, the Rain, THE RAIN URGH.
VANS all wet, socks soggy and MY pants for sat's duty washing now
Hopefully back by sat.
Ok going back to revision, with FAITH.
I'm gonna ace my prelims.
!0 points, 10 points, 10 points!
Alright bye guys, leave you all with the word of the day:
glower \GLAU-uhr\, intransitive verb:
1. To look or stare angrily or with a scowl.
noun:
1. An angry or scowling look or stare.

FOP?
A man who is overly concerned with or vain about his dress and appearance; a dandy.
Interesting word.
Re-Faith
I was most surprised when i saw Timo responded along with me today.
Haha!
Time to reflect how much faith i really have in God.
Compared to a moment in the past, when i could trust God for everything, I feel that now i have no idea why i can't do the same.
But just as Pst. Casey says, "When you're down, you gotta work!"
Faith is like a muscle.
Every time you exercise it, it becomes stronger.
Its time to exercise my faith.
"The JUST shall live by FAITH." - Rom 1:17

When Little Becomes Much
Just like the parable of the feeding of the 5000.
How just 5 loaves and 2fish was more than enough for them.
The power of accumulation isn't one to belittle.
Let me show you a fine example:
When little becomes much.
Maybe this is the way we should learn to treat some of the things we have at hand.
In your hands, it doesn't seem much.
But when you give it to God, He can multiply it for you.
Last Sunday at Bishan, managed to catch these 2 spectacular sights:
Ok i'm off to get some rest.

Do visit for updates!
I just realised its only about a month or so to O's.
Oh man, its like 3 days per subject - school hours, tuition, church and ministry.
God please multiply my time.
Gotta focus focus focus.
Speech writing today was killer.
"I like write i think i'm gonna say, but people like think what they're gonna write."
Maybe its thinking what you're going to say and say what you're going to think.
Then all it takes is to pen it all down.
Well i came up with something about discipline.
"Nothing will be done until you're done doing nothing."
Contemplate and appreciate.
Reflect, don't reject.
Ok time for some distressing:
What fruit do shoppers like to eat?
A: Mango
What god do shoppers worship?
A: Hermes
What did the poor singaporean say to the other poor singaporean?
A: "Money no enough too?"
Why did the lawyer had to do the dishes at the restaurant?
A: Because he couldn't foot the bail.
Ok enough i'm going to do work.
Song of the Day: Contemplations - Stentorian
I've just discovered a whole batch of sweet Corrinne May songs.
Sunday, August 17, 2008
I just thought i had to post this.
Came into my mind on sat after listening to the sermon by WH.
Message was partly about following God's ways.
Thought about it while walking to the MRT:
"God will make your way if you will make His day."
Pretty much sums up prayer in a way haha.
And after bible study today, i think i rediscovered the meaning of Faith.
Having Faith in everything we do, even the little things.
"The just shall walk by faith."

Praise God!
Euphoria's the word, just like my msn hahaha.
Still trying to get adjusted to the keyboard though.
Indefinitely smaller.
Got back chinese results.
Splendid feeling it was.
A1 A1 A1!!!
But this time i reminded myself to be watchful, for those around me.
Unexpectedly familiar scene of many disappointed faces.
Fairly ominous? Maybe.
I wanted to be there for those that didn't make the cut.
Well guys & gals, you gotta put the CL results aside and start psyching yourself for EL Oral.
Keep in control what you STILL have control over.
Galatians 6:9
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."

"I want to be a malay!"
Haha.
And YZ got owned by a fried swordfish.
Time to run the race again.
I tried tennis today and the highest rally count i got was 3.

PRAWNED
I don't know why, i find myself in the position of the one that's chasing instead of the one that's running ahead.
And its taking a toil on my prayer life.
I don't know why i've been giving up prayer for homework.
It just doesn't feel right.
I've been quite lost about what to do, until maybe yesterday.
I was reminded of something which Pastor said a long time ago.
A time when i kept the word close to my heart.
"There isn't a convenient time to do anything."
Its time to get started on prayer once again!
On another note,
KE and me caught a $30 prawn :/
We got PRAWNED.
Oh well we had a ball of a time.
And desiree is the annoying "you-reap-what-you-sow" girl.
Sheryl has morbid fantasies.
Daph is jigsaw's new apprentice.
Ivan is the prawn pawner.
Davin just cannot catch anything.
Oh well back to more studying this week.
And praying too. :)

Loving FOP.
Haha its 2 days or serving for me, but quite an experience i must say.
SIS so much different from expo. I think i practically can memorise how to get to anywhere in SIS already, including backstage and operations area.
Running from external into logis is not as easy, that's one thing for sure haha.
Anyway, manage to get Khee Ern to come for FOP!
Thank God Kang Wei came out at the instant i needed him.
Sat night/Sun early morning of the FOP weekend was most memorable indeed.
Super big gulp half down in seconds.
French, i mean honey glazed toast with peanut butter.
->Credit goes to Calista for suggestion haha!
Mango cream...Yummy :P
Hong Kong Cafe was the bomb!
And also we had a slight misadventure after supper.
It included:
- 2 angry souls
- 3 poverty-induced souls
- a 7-eleven that does not allow netts top-up for ez-link
- 2 free nightrider tickets
- a generous bus uncle
- a generous security guard
- $2.10
Back to mugging. I'm finally clearing that whole stockpile of homework.

Post CHMA
I think most of us are feeling it now, the post CHMA blues.
Well it happens every year.
I think we should have a CHMA week.
There's a bilingual festival that stretches the whole week, a CH arts week.
But no CHMA week.
I think the whole week should be dedicated to a whole week of morning band performances, shout outs and a full 'radio' programme after school.
Oh well.
At least i can finally watch the concert.
Haha
And to ALL contestants and crew, pictures can be found at flickr.

Majoring on the Minor
WHAT MAJOR IS RIGHT FOR YOU? created with QuizFarm.com | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
You scored as Education/Counseling You should strongly consider majoring in Education, such as early childhood education, middle childhood education, secondary education, or related majors (e.g., Vocational Education, Special Education, P.E./Physical Education).
|
He sounds almost the same recorded and live.
These are the type of artistes i love.
Anyway i was checking up the definition of hooks and totally LOL'ed at this:
12. Music.
b. an appealing melodic phrase, orchestral ornament, refrain, etc., often important to a popular song's commercial success.
Looking Beyond
I was just thinking, how amazing it is some people go through life without realising the vast amount of information available to them that spirals a tornado of opportunities.
If they ever realised how much it would be a help to them, i think the world would be brimming with much, much more intellectual individuals.
Reconstruction, restoration and recreation of this broken world would then be not just the empowered vision of a few collected individuals but an equally shared burden by, optimistically, everyone.
Maybe life is more than just a bowl of laksa; a plate of char kway tiao; a cup of chin chow.
More than just gigs; performances and great music.
More than just textbooks; scholarships; degrees, diplomas and doctorates.
More than just social networks, friends and families.
More than just serving, ministry and soul-winning.
I guess in everything you do, you got to have a higher purpose because if you don't, you'll be tired of whatever you're doing and eventually with life itself.
A calamitous cumulation.
John 10:10
"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
Rom 8:28
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
What is your purpose today?

Darryn and me were like stalking the group while they were going to the sky garden.
And Woon dosen't know how to prepare gifts and the card. LOL
He said he expected a surprise but he didn't expect presents.
A pair of slippers, Havanas and B.P.
And i could tell he liked it alot!
Anyway we had a great time, BQ was randomly funny.
Wei Cheng was quite quiet, but his help was greatly appreciated!
Thanks WC!
A lot of the celebration process couldn't have been possible without you.
Shawn was all SMILES.
Woon was glaringly orange.
Darryn was beng kia stripes LOL.
Woon bought a pair of skinnies from Top Man that cost $103.

Habits
Habits determine attitudes,
And attitudes determine character.
Fasting
How should i put it?
You know something is wrong when you're fasting, your mum makes a cocktail dessert, which only happens once in a while.
When you're fasting, late at night, while you are using the com, your brother announces "fries!".
When you're fasting, you're taking geog exam in the morning and you see geography of food as your question.
When you're fasting, you step into your class to study, somehow there are people there eating prawn noodles and the aroma fills the entire room.
When you're fasting, you see 6 dishes on the dinner table when the previous day had only 3.
When you're fasting, you tell everyone not to mention about food but somehow they all had eaten something scrumptious on the day and can't wait to tempt you.
When you're fasting, you're typing this post and wondering, "Why aren't i sleeping so i can get up in the morning and have my BREAK-FAST."

After-thoughts
@_@
So the split has been decided, but its not as drastic as i thought.
I think part of the reason why is that WH still loves the cell and isn't as keen to give it up so easily.
I can understand that.
Now its more of a supervisory role.
But still, the chances of us sitting together quite slim.
Unless of course Mar is the one making the decision in sitting location.
But still, i think Ian and WH wouldn't want us to sit together.
Loses the ID of the cell.
Darryn, you lost the bet ;D
History wise, i thank Krishnan for giving us LON the last time.
But shit, its still alot to study in 4 days.
I'm still at cold war LOL.
Only left rev kit A.
Hallelulah.
I'm going to concentrate on only 4 more other subs.
There is no time to make sure every sub is an A.
I think i'm gonna bet on my double maths, phys and combined humans.
Oh shit.
Maybe i think i'll swap chem with either phys or combined humans.
Combined humans is ALOT to mug.
You can tell i'm stressed but the number of shits i have in my posts.
I don't usually shit that much.

:(
N341 and N112 are gonna split!
No!
Actually its just that one of us will hav Ian taking over as our new leader.
Which means we won't be sitting together and fellowshipping together anymore!
:/
I'll miss quite a lot of people.
I still remember the time we spent bluffing at East Coast Macs haha!
But like what Melvin Chiang said(or rather prophesied), "God is a God of new things."
Its time to move on.
Forget the past, its hard.
Maybe what's most important is to treasure the memories.
And always treasure them in your heart.
For where your treasure is, your heart will be also.
Its going to be saddening, but i can say it the times we had weren't regrettable.
Well gotta look forward to a fresh new start.
I guess whoever is going to have Ian taking over as the new cell leader can really expect more great times to come.
They way we exit will definitely determine the way we enter.

Zone Camp
Although excitement level wasn't as high as SupaTeens but it was great nevertheless.
How should i put it, SupaTeens was a foundation, Zone camp added on to what I learnt with new revelations!
Ian shared with us about who we were, Christ in us, us in Christ and in God.
Not forgetting who we were.
That was really impacting.
Neos! Oei!
Neos! OEI!
NEOS! SAT SAT OEI!
Corinth did a fantastic job even though we weren't champions.
What i was glad about was my team managed to win "Best Team" award!
Yeah!
And basketball, played with Samuel and Boris in a tournament style against other teams.
I mean like woah, we had never played together before and still managed to get into semi-finals haha.
What's more, i only knew Boris that morning haha!
Quite an achievement.
Mind-blowing week i tell you.
Drum Fest is at the end of the month.
Hmm, i think it'll be hard for me to enter.
Probably going down to watch to learn something.
Anyone wanna go?

Revalation
1. Having or expressing broad and tolerant views, especially in religious matters.
2. A person who is broad-minded and tolerant; one who displays freedom in thinking, especially in religious matters.
If only the world was so.
But I guess its time to stop wishing and start changing.
If you don't take control of change, change is going to control you.
Maybe its time i took up the Spartan mentality i once had.
Yes definitely.
Today's definitely a day of revelation for me.
With the discussion about section matters, somehow it has shed a lot of light on how our ministry really functions.
I think I'm one who can't stand doing something without knowing the principle behind it.
Well its time to move on.
There's so much to do, with so little time.
Thank God for Prayer.

Its kind of hypocritical.
And today's golden moment:
Perry experienced a moment of disgust as the empty xiao mai chao bottle that connected with my foot sailed through the air and landed in his plate of food.
Dam i wish my life was recorded in moments like these.
