I meant to post this yesterday but i forgot about until just about a while ago.

The Power of the Dollar

3 men stroll past a Ralph Lauren Polo shop.
One looked at the jacket on display and said,

"If I had enough money, I'd walk into the store and buy everything I want."

Upon hearing this, another man said,

"If I had enough money, I'd buy the whole store."

Guess what did the third man say?

"If I had enough money, I'll get Ralph Lauren himself to design for me a whole wardrobe of clothes."

Just stumbled upon this word: Kvetch.
Interesting.

The defination goes:

kvetch \KVECH\, adjective:

1. To complain habitually.
2. A complaint.
3. A habitual complainer.

Guess who i had in mind straight away?
No prizes though heh heh heh.

Attitude of Gratitude

Stumbled upon this blog by accident, but then again, anything with God is almost nothing short of an accident.
Insightful reads, here's the site.

If you took the lengths to visit it, the title would seem intriguing.
Even if you didn't, i'll include it as part of my post today.

Attitude of Gratitude - a rhyme and at the same time, a virtue.
Some say that gratitude is the mother of other virtues.
Taking a moment to consider, i believe it is so.
I took the liberty of taking gratitude to have a meaning akin to thankfulness.
If you're unconvinced, i did a search on Thesaurus.com and the results turn up to show:
http://thesaurus.reference.com/browse/thankfulness

Well then the questions here is, how is gratitude/thankfulness a virtue?
Let me answer that question via a simple example:

We all know the season of giving is approaching/has approached and it isn't hard to find parents giving children gifts at this time of the year, in fact, it has become pretty much commonplace.
If the child is receiving the gift from a familiar aunt or uncle and he/she tears open the wrapping paper with much haste, only to their dismay, it was not really what they had expected.

Let's pause here.

There are 2 general reactions that the child could partake of.

1) Choose to be thankful/grateful for the present, even though it was not what he/she wanted.
[Insert Quote]Its the thought that counts[/Insert]
[Error 227: Cliche]

2) Choose to fully portray their disgust in as many different actions as possible, only limited by the creativity of their mind.

In the place of that beloved aunt/uncle, would you feel appreciated if reaction number 2 happens?

Reaction 1 would possibly trigger off a loving response by the giver.

I admit, it isn't a very good example, but i hope it portrays how gratitude is a virtue.

Gratitude works as a resistance to other negative feelings if you like.

If you're grateful for the friends you have, you won't wonder who will backstab you next.
If you're grateful for the handphone you have, you won't worry about how other people's phones have better functions than yours.
If you're grateful for your food, you won't worry about the fat in it.
If you're grateful for your family, you certainly won't want to ruin it.

And the list goes on.

So why the big uproar about gratitude?
It seems to me that most people are not really thankful for the things they have in life.
A common sight on the streets - or rather a common sound i hear is people complaining how fraught and distraught their lives are.

"Oh you see my son can't even score an A* for maths. Maybe i have to send him for more tuition classes."

Hello lady, Thank God that you HAVE a son.

I mean, people miss out the little things in life sometimes.
I feel there's a need to really slow down, freeze the big picture and actually notice what all of this originally started from.
Always be thankful for the things you ALREADY have, and don't forget to give thanks for the things you receive.

So my friends, let us carry on with life having an attitude of gratitude integrated into our lives.
Frankly, i'm still trying hard to aggrandize it into a subconscious mentality.

Enchanted

Went to watch Enchanted today and i must say, it supersedes my expectations by at least one star.

My first thought was that it'll be kingdom-heart style of mixing all the disney characters.

But it wasn't.

I thought the humor was really good.
There was a little black humor, which i think for any movie, is a must.
Or else its too "clean".
Ok it makes it less interesting, in my opinion.
Rather lot of puns and ironies at the end though.

Rating: 4/5 Stars *Must Watch*
An enjoyable film for all ages.
How funny you'll find it is how much you can draw for it.
I like the blend of LOL-funny as well as black funny.

Need a jobba soon.

Right now, Kingdom Hearts 2 is eating my time away.

No more direct sales

Well went for work on tues, from an ad in the papers.
That was why you probably didn't see me online much on tues.
Then again in recent days i've haven't been online much.
Haha!
Artemis Fowl is intriguing, i must admit.

Work is how to say, HMMM, not very fruitful.
Lugging around 10 boxes of perfume doing direct sales is really harder than i thought.
Practically no one wants to buy!
Irritating.
I think i'm switching job.
Not because the scope's hard. Its because to the people doing it.
My employer smokes but that's ok, its how he tells me to sells that makes me wanna quit.
"Start with $30 for 1, then say buy 1 get 1 free. If customer dun want, make it 3 for $30."
Thanks but i rather work at LJS instead.

No more direct sales job for me.

Looking for a job that pays hourly now, NO CONTRACT and flexi-working hours if possibly. 2weeks - 1 month time.

Needa money for building fund.

Oh and bbq on monday was nothing short of a failure.
We failed to get the charcoal to be hot.
KH was really puzzled over why it didn't because we tried all sorts of methods and nothing seemed to work.
Grace even called her friend down from yishun just to help us, sadly, to no avail.
Oh well, an experience that was haha!
Next time, 9 fire starters.

God, please let there be someone able to set up the bbq tonight during chalet.

And my heartfelt apologies to BX, KE and Perry for the last minute pangseh.
To be honest, i was tired and didn't feel like moving out of the house by the time you called in the night.
I had wanted to go, maybe next time.

Right now i'm chasing after my nose.

I've discovered msn is a great tool for misleading people.

Adolescent

Somehow or another, I think the ex 2-5 people are starting to mature than I've previously noticed.

For one, there has been a revival in the number of blogs since then.

I remember very few people kept blogs, much less to say those who updated regularly.
Along the way, I've discovered that Jun Wei,Leonard,Woon Ngiap, Wei Rong and Terrence have blogs.
It came to me as a surprise.

Keeping your life in check through a blog is a rough sign that someone's grown up.
Maybe its just me, but a blog usually can only be handled by mature people.
You do want insight in your posts after all, and not leave them to be purblind.

Accountability is a mark of maturity.

Second, I've noticed that everyone sticks with their CCA people most of the time.
In a way i guess its good.
We make new friends and we must spend time to honor those friendships.

For it is said, "You reap what you sow."

If you sow seeds of time into fruits of friendships, may your labour be a relationship that is everlasting.

I guess people do change, with change being the only constant.
We all have to adapt to one another.
Thank God that I can do that.

Even if we spend lesser time with each other, hopefully, our hearts still remember the times we had.
I'm being a little over nostalgic about this, surprised at myself as well.
Sentimental, yup that's the word.
Its just I don't want to lose the friends i have gained over the years.
A pain, excruciating it is.
I must work upon those that seem to have lost place in my heart.
That is why we must treasure the moments we have.

For where your treasure is, your heart will be also.

SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC

Most people are looking for simplicity in their life.
Well i can see woon is.
Simplicity dosen't have to seeked after, it begins in the mind.

Well i think i'm stopping here, I want to sleep early tonight and I've lost the motivation to maple.

A BIG heartfelt thanks to all who've tagged my blog while its dead.
I suddenly felt instigated to do this.

Revival?

Its been some time since I've touched this blog haha!
Hols are often the times when blogs become stagnant.

Went for double service on sat & sun, both were great!
But i almost fell asleep during the sun one.
I guess it was because I slept at 2am in the morning.
With thanks to Daph for a morning call, if not I'd be late.

Pst. Ulf was a little deeper this time round, i got a little confused at several times wondering what his message was about.
It required effort to get back on track to the sermon.
Because somehow or another, i think I'm not used to the way he preaches.
Couldn't catch the main points at times.
But overall it was good, it got me fired up.
And Carola is a GREAT singer.
Truely anointed.
I can't remember how to spell her surname because its Swedish in nature.
Much like a french name haha.
To note, She's the winner of Eurovision 1991.
To the uninformed, Eurovision is the bigger version of American Idol, similar competition, higher scale.
Like World Idol.

Went to lunch with Kok Keng, Desiree and Amanda at Changi after service on sun.
Talked alot with Kk and discovered much about the cell group.
As in alot of inside info.
Interesting session we had.
And I'm pretty sure Desiree had a manifestation of a three-year old kid that day.

TOTALLY RANDOM
Majority of Singaporeans are all polyglots.
That is to say, they can speak more than one language.
I assure I'm one myself, speaking tongues of Chinese, English. Less fluent Hokkien, Teo Chew and to a certain extent, Malay, Tamil and Jap.
The only sentence i know in Tamil is the one heard everyday at the MRT stations.

Its time to ameliorate the standards of my posts.
Hopefully, it won't become a beta noire in the sight others.

It was really a true, pure hardcore gaming time, lucky its hols.

Well got a job intro from Bernice, Thanks!
Might consider.

On a lighter note, Kimberly much dearly awaits the return of Joy from OBS.
I think she'll have a breakdown soon if Joy doesn't.

Hello people, its been a week since hols started and i'm lazing at home playing warcraft the whole day.
Ok i stayed at home today for once.
Out on wed,thurs,fri,sat.

Cousins, aunts and uncles came my house today for some prayer thing.
And my cousin was playing pacman over the com on facebook haha!

Basically spent the whole day just playing, gaming and eating.
Kinda slack huh?

Oh, hope everyone who ate the food ytd are feeling much better now.
I think its a case of food poisoning.
The funny part's this:

believing the unseen says:
hey!
[ACM] <žMelvinž> The end of Fear is where we Begin. says:
helo
believing the unseen says:
heard u vomitted ah
believing the unseen says:
better alrdy?
[ACM] <žMelvinž> The end of Fear is where we Begin. says:
yea
[ACM] <žMelvinž> The end of Fear is where we Begin. says:
i was better since ytd
[ACM] <žMelvinž> The end of Fear is where we Begin. says:
i vomitted twice
believing the unseen says:
u rmb yst
[ACM] <žMelvinž> The end of Fear is where we Begin. says:
then i felt better
believing the unseen says:
i asked u if the fried rice is cold or hot
believing the unseen says:
then u said lukewarm
[ACM] <žMelvinž> The end of Fear is where we Begin. says:
EH
[ACM] <žMelvinž> The end of Fear is where we Begin. says:
DAPH
[ACM] <žMelvinž> The end of Fear is where we Begin. says:
YOU'RE A PROPHET
believing the unseen says:
then sharon said...."i'll vomit u out of my mouth
believing the unseen says:
hahahah!
[ACM] <žMelvinž> The end of Fear is where we Begin. says:
quoted from wen hui " We must be careful about the things we say."

believing the unseen says:
hahhahaha!!
believing the unseen says:
yah !
believing the unseen says:
hahahahha!!

The real scary thing about the incident was everyone vomitted about the same time, like when it was close to 3.
Eerie.
So anyway, i'm feeling better with much thanks to milk, prayer and God.
I'm off to bships with YZ now.

ZK's Birthday Bash

Today was a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong day.
Ok i'm talking about wednesday.

Well its two important events happening on the same day.

O's Chinese paper was quite unexpected.
The topics for compo was very, very unexpected.
However manageable.
Hopefully can score.
MUST SCORE

Paper 2 was ok, except one of the compre question was quite scary.

Well after chinese O's went to eat with YZ and Roc but in the end decided not to 'cos there wasn't space.
So went home and rested before going out again.

Went to celebrate Zi Kai's BIRTHDAY!
Planned to go Chong Pang and eat.
Ok compared to the other one where i ate last time i guess Chong Pang the people looked friendlier.
Mostly aunties HAHA
Food was ok. As usual, when there's guys around, its just spam meat.
And Chef Kah Koon made a nice broth of a soup.
Although Chef Harry's one was better haha!
But it is admirable to be able to cook nice soup.

In the midst of eating, i have a general conclusion that guys CAN cam-whore just as much as girls do.
Ivan was going on a spree haha.
I'm not one to cam-whore unless requested haha.
Its rude to turn someone down.

No pictures here though, BUT you can visit Ivan's blog under my links.

Went bowling after that.
Went arcade with KK and i got scammed at the spoilt drum machine.
Bowling was quite fun, we were making a hell' lot of noise there.
Alot of unexpected underdogs got really high scores haha.
To name were: Bryan Tan, Richie.
Bryan had a score of 128 and Richie about 133.
VERY HIGH
I got a 103 which got me satisfied.
Hitting 100 was alr quite hard haha.
We all went home after that. Tiring day haha.
But fun.
