Honor

Before i start posting anything, this goes out to all the billions of people who've sms'ed, msn'ed, wrote on my wall, commented on my status changes, and changed their status just to wish me best of luck for results later.
I just wanna say: THANK YOU!

Sorry if the following post is going to sound more medicore than my normal writing standard.
I've been out of touch with writing for a long, long time.

Service today was fantastic and Pst. John Bevere is a really really really really really AMAZING preacher!

Not forgetting that he's humourous as well.
Today's message was really impactful, about honoring others.
Honoring those above you, on the same level as you as well as those beneath you.

And to honor is to respect, no matter in what medium.
Words, action, heart & thought.
Yes in the heart and thought as well.

His message today made me realise some things.

Sometimes when we are placed under authority(be it teachers, bosses, or ministry leaders),
don't we sometimes resent the place we are in?

"How much better it would be if I were in their position instead."

Or sometimes we think that what they do isn't right and we, holding on to our beliefs, choose to go against what they do.
Be it method or attitude that spites us, we have had some form of silent rebellion that only we know of.

Your Parents?

Today, Pst. John said that its not about the nasty boss you have, but its recognising the authority that is given to him.
Since all authority is given by God, honoring your angry, impatient, biased and incompetent overseer is also honoring God.

How many times have we dishonoured God or have we not placed value in God because we have not honored a higher authority?

And about honouring people on the same level - peers.
The last time you got angry at, made a nasty remark, insulted, cheated, lied to someone whom you considered a friend or even at the level of an aquintance, you have dishonoured that person.

Sure you could reason you weren't that half bad.
But when was the last time you had a misguided thought to judge someone else?

Lastly, sometimes this is the hardest to fulfill - Honouring those beneath you.
Those that are under your authority.
Some may ask, how can i have anyone under me?
Your younger siblings, your team members, your juniors, your younger cousins, anyone who is learning from you(I won't say disciple because its not applicable to all)?

Is it just all about giving orders, orders and more orders?
Do this, do that, because i'm above you.

It irks me sometimes when i see maids being treated in such a manner,

Have you ever considered going down to their level to interact with them?
Have you ever wished them even a simple "Happy Birthday"?

Have you honoured these people today?
